About the Project

Located in a remote regional part of Australia, the wind farm’s staff had limited access to reliable coverage and connectivity. This increases risk, reduces safety and has a significant impact on workplace efficiency.

Overview

To solve this issue, a mobile 4G wide-area network which covers approximately 55kms of the wind farm and surrounding areas was designed. In this case 4G was more than sufficient for the needs of on-site workers as well as workers living in the camp.

The network consists of 1 fixed radio site and 3 mobile towers built with a unique trailer-based solution. These trailers can be relocated at the site as coverage demands change over the course of the project or removed and utilized at other sites around the State. In this case study the customer also used a Push to Talk (PTT) solution as a way of providing two-way radio communications across the private 4G network.
